Develop Your Leadership

This two-day course is aimed at employees who have been earmarked for succession or find themselves in a management position for the first time. This training intervention will equip the delegates not only with a list of actions all leaders and managers should take and which mistakes to avoid, but also how to build and lead teams to great performance. It will cover all aspects related to leadership requirements in today’s business world, including managing change, communicating powerfully and effectively motivating and inspiring a team through emotionally intelligent behavioural management of people.  It will provide them with the knowledge and know-how to ensure sustainable successful leadership and management into the future and help them to be smart with people.

Effective Communication, Negotiation and Presentation Skills

Being able to communicate, negotiate and present effectively is a critical management skill. When communication is not effective it can create conflict, misunderstandings and barriers that can negatively influence our most important inter-personal relationships at work and at home. Knowing how to communicate, negotiate and listen effectively can make the difference between success and failure.

This course is designed to provide delegates at supervisory and middle management level with the skills, knowledge, techniques and strategies to communicate, negotiate and present effectively so that they can get their point across in a confident, clear manner, improving efficiency and productivity.

This two-day course is aimed at managers who have to use business and report writing skills to communicate their business ideas accurately and effectively to their readers. The training focuses on basic skills like planning, layout of and writing a business report. The course also focuses on using correct language and grammar as well as pointing out common language mistakes that are often made.

This powerful two-day workshop equips managers with the tools and skills to enhance their own EQ as well as that of their team, improve their inter-personal skills, communication skills and enable them to deal with diversity and conflict in an effective manner.  It is aimed at a management level to equip managers with tools to manage themselves and their team in an emotionally intelligent manner.

Change and Diversity Management

Leaders are strategic change agents and this two-day course will provide leadership with fresh insight into the change process, how change affects the business and its internal and external stakeholders.  It will provide leadership with updated skills to enable them to communicate and implement change in their business in an effective, positive manner.

In business and in life, change is the one constant. Darwin said, “It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.” Make yourself, your team and your business fit for change, flexible, creative, innovative and directed towards a common vision.

In addition building an inclusive environment that celebrates and leverages the talents of all employees is more than a good idea—it is a business imperative.

This one-day course will provide non-researchers with the basic skills to understand market research, make sound decisions when evaluating research proposals and brief their research or advertising agency.  The training course does not have a statistical approach but rather focuses on the practicalities of market research.

Confidence and assertiveness is a critical management skill without which managers cannot lead, motivate and inspire their teams. Being more assertive rather than aggressive will earn them the respect and trust of their team.

Learning to act and speak in a more assertive way could help them overcome obstacles such as shyness, low self-esteem and a lack of confidence. During this one-day training course they will gain the tools and techniques to boost their confidence and build their self-esteem and enable them to manage with confidence.

Managers who need to lead others have to be able to manage themselves, their own time and their own stress levels successfully.  This practical two-day workshop will enable delegates to better manage their own time, enable them to improve their decision making cycle, become pro-active, avoid procrastination and enable them to motivate and manage themselves and others, thereby reducing the levels of unhealthy stress in their teams.

This two-day course provides managers with a basic understanding of financial management. It demonstrates how to read and understand key elements of financial statements and reports, such as balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements. Participants also learn how to apply basic financial and accounting principles to budget preparation and analysis.

The aim of this practical and participative course is to help participants analyse and improve the financial performance of their organisation and their team. Using case studies and participants’ own examples, they will learn about key financial documents such as balance sheets, profit & loss accounts and budgets.

Conflict and Anger Management

The anger and conflict management program is a practical program that will help managers deal with anger and conflict in a positive, energising manner.  It will give the delegates helpful steps to manage anger in themselves and others.  It will help them cope with stress and transform the way they manage emotions in themselves and in their work and home environment.

Managing conflict in an effective and positive manner is a vital skill all employees need in order to defuse potentially negative situations, in negotiation and to understand and handle conversations with individuals, both up and down the corporate ladder.

Although strategy setting is an executive level leadership imperative, being able to understand, communicate, tactical implement and measure the strategic interventions are critical at this level of the organisation. This two-day workshop will equip managers with the necessary understanding and practical tools to enable them to successfully execute the strategic direction of the organisation.

You hire people for their skills but fire them for their attitude – how to spot and retain positive employees.

Lou Holtz said it best when he said: “Ability is what you're capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it.” The Attitude is Everything course deals with understanding the causes of a negative attitude, how to overcome this and will explain why a positive attitude has an impact on success.  It will highlight the potential warning signs and give practical advice on how to improve your own attitude, and also how to manage the attitudes of people you work and interact with.

Professionals in the working environment are often at a disadvantage when sitting around the meeting table by not understanding the process of finance.  This highly interactive 2 day course will take delegates through the much needed terminologies, and calculations to understand the world of finance, and give them the knowledge to feel comfortable in the business environment.

Project management is the business discipline of planning, organising, securing and managing resources to achieve specific goals.  A project is often a temporary endeavour with a defined beginning and end (usually time-constrained, and often constrained by funding or deliverables), undertaken to meet unique goals and objectives, typically to bring about beneficial change or added value.

Projects go through a number of phases and managing its progress effectively is critical to ensure it all runs smoothly.  Every project you manage will be unique; scope, budgets, team dynamics and timeframes will differ.  As a project manager, the most important factor in achieving project success will be your understanding of all the critical aspects of successful project management, not only the technical aspects but also importantly the management and motivation of all stakeholders and the successful navigation of the change process.  This course will enable you to deliver projects on time and on budget, again and again.

"It has been a few days now since we had our teambuilding workshop; obviously giving us some time to digest our experiences of last Monday and Tuesday. On Thursday we had our regular Mechanical Team meeting where we all had a chance to briefly reflect on our experiences from the workshop. The comments were all overwhelmingly positive, more so than any other team exercise that I’ve experienced so far with this bunch."

"Elmarie, WELL done on the excellent feedback I received.  You were a winner in the training intervention – exactly what I suspected.  Thank you for continuing to make a difference to our colleagues’ lives."

"I have never been to a course that was presented like this. Elmarie had the whole group involved for the two days. There was so much interaction and not just the ususal reading from a manual or looking at a presentation.  Even shy people participated.  The examples and “games” was well chosen.  I will recommend her to everyone and so many people that I am going to tell about this course.

Well done to the person who chose her to train for Sasol."

"I have completed a host of similar sessions over the years but must admit that your style and content fits exceptionally well with your business name. I find that Australian businesses (in general) pay lip service to and generally lack the fundamentals when it comes to delivering tangible results on people management. I found your content was stimulating and relevant with something there for all participants. And needless to say it was very well delivered."
